December 22, 2006 Saint John Port Authority is pleased to announce the appointment, by the Minister of Transport, of Mr. Stephen D. Campbell to the Board of Directors for a three-year term. The Port Authority also announces the election of Mr. Todd Stephen as Chairman of the Board and Mr. Stephen Campbell as Vice-Chairman following their election by the Board of Directors today.
The incoming Chairman, Mr. Todd Stephen, has been a director of the Port Authority since April of 2004 during which time he has served as Vice-Chairman and more recently Acting Chairman since July of 2006. Additionally Mr. Stephen has served on various board committees and served as committee chair for the Human Resources Committee.
Mr. Todd Stephen has worked in the financial services industry since 1987, the first nine years with a national organization and for the past 10 years as a founding partner in the Maritime based firm Owens MacFadyen Group. The benefits and HR consulting practice that Mr. Stephen leads is among the largest independent providers of such services on the East Coast.
Mr. Stephen brings a history of corporate, industry and community involvement to his role as Saint John Port Authority Chairman. He is a past director of The Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation, Atlantic Health Sciences Corporation (Secretary, Finance Chair, Executive Committee), current Chair of the Associate Advisory Council for the Canadian Automotive Dealers Association, as well as a coach and organizer in local sports associations. He has a number of industry designations, including Fellowship status in the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists.
Incoming Vice-Chairman, Mr. Stephen Campbell, previously served on the SJPA Board as a director for four years from 2001 through 2005, holding positions on various Board committees, Chair of the Human Resources Committee and as Vice-Chairman of the Board from 2004 to 2005.
Mr. Campbell holds a bachelor of business administration and a masters of science. He is a fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute, a Canadian investment manager and a personal financial planner. Mr. Campbell currently serves as vice president of Royal Bank Financial Group, a position he has held since 1995. Mr. Campbell was also regional vice president and branch manager with Midland Walwyn Capital from 1990 to 1995, and from 1982 to 1990 he served as vice president of Scotia Bond Company Limited. He has been a committee chairman for the Saint John Board of Trade, and has served as a director of New Brunswick Power Corporation. From 1988 to 1991, he served as Deputy Mayor of the Town of Quispamsis.
