Port Saint John Prepares to Host Thousands on Community Day – June 7th

SAINT JOHN (NB) – Port Saint John’s 5th Annual Community Day takes place Sunday, June 7th, when thousands gather along the waterfront for a marine community celebration – port city style.

Community Day takes place from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, has no admission fee, and features a wide-range of activities as well as fundraising through dollar-priced snacks and barbecue.

The Canadian Forces will be on-site with Light Armoured Vehicle rides and large equipment displays along with Little Ray’s Reptile’s, Magical Memories Princess Parties and bouncy castles and more than 3 dozen other organizations, family entertainers or industry displays.

At this year’s event, Port Saint John will be introducing a mascot, Champ the harbour seal. Champ will be front and centre, meeting and greeting his community and introducing a new book, Port City Champ, an illustrated children’s story about his adventures in the Saint John harbour.

Community Day is an opportunity for Port Saint John and its partners to give back to the community through fundraising for PALS (Partners Assisting Local Schools). This year’s Community Day co-presenting sponsors are Irving Oil Ltd and TransCanada. Additionally there are many other sponsors who help to make the day a success.

Every year since its inception in 2011, Community Day attendance has grown. Last year more than 8,000 people attended. Come on down and join Port Saint John and its stakeholders again this year.
