ACCESSIBILITY PLAN & FEEDBACK PROCESS
The Saint John Port Authority (SJPA) is pleased to present our first Accessibility Plan, developed in alignment with the Accessible Transportation Planning and Reporting Regulations. This plan is a testament to our commitment to inclusivity, aimed at creating a barrier-free environment for everyone who interacts with our port—employees, contractors, travelers, and visitors alike.
Guided by our purpose, we focus on people and act as connectors who find innovative solutions to create economic and social value. By building partnerships, SJPA provides a platform for prosperity and sustainability for the communities we serve. Accessibility is a key component of this mission, and our plan outlines the steps we’re taking to eliminate barriers and foster an inclusive environment. Through this plan, we seek to uphold our core values of Integrity and Inclusion, ensuring respect, honesty, and openness while fostering diversity in our team and engaging meaningfully with our community.
Saint John Port Authority is a part of the critical transportation infrastructure of Canada and a cornerstone of the New Brunswick economy. Our mission is to proactively manage, in a sustainable manner, the provision of infrastructure and service for present and future users of Saint John Port Authority to the economic and social benefit of the surrounding region.
A LIVING DOCUMENT
It is important to note that this plan is a living document for the SJPA. Each year, the document will be revisited and timelines adjusted to show the progress.
This document and the actions enclosed will be led by an internal steering committee that will champion the plan at SJPA. The committee will be comprised of Management representation, and employee and union representation. All members are committed to integrating inclusion into all planning and activities at the SJPA.
