Port Saint John Holds First Ever Virtual Annual General Meeting  

 On May 21, 2020, Port Saint John came together with industry partners and stakeholders for its first ever virtual annual general meeting. Though the COVID-19 global pandemic pushed the event online, the spirit of collaboration was alive and well as Board Chair, Lisa Keenan and CEO, Jim Quinn shared details of the year’s successes and challenges with over 125 attendees from across the region and beyond and hundreds more viewing the Facebook Live Adaptation and innovation were the key themes at this year’s meeting, reflected well in container, cruise and infrastructure project growth throughout the year. The Rodney Container Terminal, operated by DP World, saw a 17% increase in container tonnage and cruise enjoyed a 24% increase in passenger growth. All the while, infrastructure development forged ahead with the continuation of the West Side Modernization project.   “The growth we enjoyed in 2019 is a testament to the strong partnerships we have across various industries,” says Port CEO Jim Quinn. “We’ve invested in our team, invested in our systems and invested in our relationships and we saw that pay off in 2019.”  Other highlights of 2019 were shared in the areas of corporate social responsibility through safety, security, environment, and community engagement. The CEO also noted at the close of the meeting that while 2019 was a successful year, COVID-19 is going to be a collective challenge for the Port’s partners and communities in 2020 He closed by saying that Port Saint John will stay true to its foundational values and that together we will overcome turbulent times and remain stronger. You can find the meeting recording, annual report, and audited financial statements for the period ended December 31, 2019 here
