It’s a unique and stunning natural setting, rich in marine animal and plant life. We take our role as stewards of this thriving ecosystem seriously.

ACAP Saint John has 30+ years of experience in environmental monitoring in the Saint John Harbour and Wolastoq. Port Saint John has been a long time supporter of their work and partner with them in many ways including tree planting, staff engagement experiences and harbour monitoring programs. Port Saint John, in partnership with ACAP Saint John & University of New Brunswick, undertake annual biodiversity monitoring in the Saint John Harbour. This work is key to understanding the species diversity of the ecosystem, invasive species detection and building a baseline for reference for years to come. Biodiversity is assessed using environmental DNA analysis where water samples are processed for genetic material to show which species are present.
