For Immediate Release- September 23, 2026

SAINT JOHN, NB - Port Saint John is pleased to announce the selection of Lisa Marie Boissonneau as their 2026-2027 Artist in Residence in partnership with the Saint John Arts Centre. Boissonneau was selected from an extraordinary 28 applications to the biennial residency program’s fourth edition.

Through the residency, Boissonneau- a fine artist originally from Moncton, N.B.- will receive unique, behind-the-scenes access to Port Saint John, inspiring a new body of work reflecting the dynamic landscapes, people, and operations of the waterfront. Boissonneau’s proposal stood out for its focus on the folklore, living heritage, and collective memory of the Port, and her plans to explore Port Saint John’s history through archival research, oral histories, community conversations, and visual storytelling.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Lisa Marie Boissonneau as our 2026-2027 Artist in Residence,” said Craig Bell Estabrooks, President and CEO of Port Saint John. “We look forward to seeing how her perspective brings a new dimension to the stories, traditions, people, and working landscapes that have shaped our gateway over generations.”

The resulting work will be exhibited in the Port Saint John Gallery at the Saint John Arts Centre from September 3 to October 22, 2027.

"The Saint John Arts Centre was once again ecstatic to be partnering with Port Saint John on this incredible residency and are so grateful for their support over the last several years,” said Andi Emrich, Executive Director of the Saint John Arts Centre. “We were floored by the response and number of applicants this year and are so proud to be a part of such a creative and talented community of artists"

The Port Saint John Artist in Residence program, launched in 2020, is a biennial opportunity for artists to use the Port as both subject and inspiration. With financial support from Port Saint John and exhibition, promotional, and administrative support from the Saint John Arts Centre, the residency reflects the Port’s commitment to strengthening the creativity, connection, and vibrancy of our community while sharing the port’s story through fresh perspectives.
