Port Saint John Announces Appointment of New Chief Operating Officer

Saint John, N.B. | Port Saint John is pleased to announce the appointment of Brent McGovern as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective January 26, 2026. McGovern joins the organization following a distinguished 20-year career at the City of Saint John, where he most recently held the role of Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).
Professional Background
During his tenure with the City of Saint John, McGovern provided leadership to a team of over 600 employees, managed a $225 million annual operating budget, and oversaw more than $50 million in annual capital investments. Notably, he successfully delivered the Safe, Clean Drinking Water Project, recognized as the largest municipal infrastructure initiative in New Brunswick’s history, which was completed on time and under budget. In addition to his public sector experience, McGovern has held senior positions in the private sector, including his role at Suez Environment in Los Angeles, where he was responsible for managing all operational aspects including the operation of the world’s most advanced water recycling facility.
